Skylar Maliska

District Case Manager

Skylar is a District Court Case Manager at Payne Law Firm, where she helps manage client caseloads and provides essential support to the firm’s attorneys. From day-to-day communication with clients to coordinating next steps on their matters, she works to ensure clients feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout their case.

Skylar earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Arkansas. Before joining Payne Law Firm, she gained valuable experience working as a Baldwin County 911 dispatcher and later as a Deputy Court Clerk for a local Northwest Arkansas court. Her background on both sides of the legal process gives her a well-rounded understanding of the system and the people moving through it.

Drawn to the legal field by her interest in exploring new perspectives on the justice system, Skylar enjoys seeing the legal process from the defense side. She is currently working toward becoming a certified paralegal and takes pride in continually expanding her skills. One of her greatest professional accomplishments was taking on a challenging task outside her comfort zone — teaching herself what she needed to know and ultimately exceeding expectations.

Originally from Alabama, Skylar now lives in Northwest Arkansas. When she’s not working, you’ll find her reading, enjoying time outside, or hanging out with her two-year-old golden retriever. Her hobbies are well-balanced by some quirks — including her (totally reasonable) fear of sharks.

Skylar loves the welcoming, positive environment at Payne Law Firm and describes her approach with clients as empathetic, understanding, and light-hearted. Her goal is to produce high-quality work while always leaving room to learn, grow, and refine her skills.

A fan of New Girl and Schitt’s Creek, Skylar also appreciates a good iced chai latte. The quote that resonates most with her:

“There are pieces of you in all the things you have loved. This is how we live forever.” — Blake Auden
