Ethan Davis

Trial Attorney

Ethan Davis is a rising star in the courtroom and a trusted advocate for clients facing DWI and criminal charges. Known for his sharp analytical mind and steady, thoughtful presence, Ethan brings precision, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to justice to every case he handles.

Ethan is certified in NHTSA’s Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, giving him a technical understanding of how officers are trained to conduct roadside investigations. With this knowledge, he is able to identify weaknesses, errors, and inconsistencies in police procedures, critical advantages when defending against DWI allegations. His command of these tools ensures clients receive a thorough, informed defense grounded in both science and strategy.

As a Trial Attorney, Ethan reviews discovery, negotiates with prosecutors, drafts motions, prepares for trial, appears in court, and guides clients through every step of their case. He also advises on long-term consequences such as sealing, jail time exposure, immigration issues, and record concerns, and works closely with court staff and Driver Control. No matter the task, he approaches his work with a calm focus, a can-do attitude, and an eye toward the best possible outcome.

Ethan completed his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with minors in policing and criminal law, at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas. While in law school, Ethan worked for several private firms practicing criminal defense, immigration defense, and civil litigation, and he spent a summer working for the Benton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

His interest in the law began early. After taking criminal justice courses in high school, he knew he wanted to help people facing some of the hardest moments of their lives. As he continued his studies, he developed relationships with attorneys who encouraged him to pursue law school. Today, Ethan takes pride in helping clients regain control and confidence during uncertain times, reminding them that things are going to work out.

A natural problem-solver, Ethan approaches each case with curiosity and determination. Whether developing defense theories, challenging the State’s evidence, or collaborating with colleagues, he works diligently to understand every detail. His colleagues describe him as reliable, insightful, and calm under pressure, a steady presence who lifts the entire team.

Born and raised in Fayetteville, Ethan continues to call the city home. He is married and has three beloved cats: a tuxedo named Baxter and two orange tabbies, Eugene and Mango. Outside of work, he is an avid reader, a competitive video game player, and a devoted sports fan. He recently completed Joe Abercrombie’s First Law trilogy and refuses to choose a favorite book from the series.

Ethan is a childhood cancer survivor, something many people do not know about him. He credits this experience with shaping his resilience and empathy for clients facing difficult circumstances.

What Ethan enjoys most about working at Payne Law Firm is the opportunity to fight for the little guy. He knows the legal system can be confusing and intimidating, and he loves helping clients navigate it with clarity and confidence. His approach is honest and direct. He strives to explain all available options so clients understand the road ahead.

Ethan is motivated by a desire to do a good job for his clients. He understands that many are experiencing the legal system for the first time and relies on steady communication, responsiveness, and thoughtful advocacy to guide them and protect their future.

His favorite piece of advice comes from the First Law series: “It is better to do it, than to live in fear of it.” He is also fond of the quote, “You can never have too many knives,” from Logen Ninefingers in The Blade Itself.

His go-to coffee order is anything mocha, and if he could have dinner with anyone, he would choose Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, or George Washington.

Dedicated, empathetic, and intellectually driven, Ethan Davis is an invaluable part of Payne Law Firm and a powerful advocate for every client who walks through the door.
